About the Men’s Shed Movement

The Men’s Shed Movement is a community-based initiative that provides a welcoming space for men to come together, work on projects, share skills, and foster camaraderie. Originating in Australia, the concept has spread globally, addressing issues like isolation and mental health by promoting social interaction and active engagement.

Shoulder to Shoulder Initiative

The “Shoulder to Shoulder” initiative underscores the collaborative spirit of the Men’s Shed Movement. It highlights the importance of collective problem-solving and support networks among shed members.

Community Development and Support Centres around the UK, including the CDCS, are proud participants in this initiative, promoting an inclusive and supportive atmosphere where everyone has an opportunity to contribute.

The History of Sheds in the UK

Men’s Sheds in the UK have a rich history, building upon grassroots efforts to create inclusive environments for skill-sharing and personal growth.

Since the first UK Shed opened its doors, the movement has expanded rapidly, offering men of all ages a place to find purpose, meet new friends, and contribute to their local communities.
